The British...

So one of the programs that I got hooked on this summer was a program on BBC America called Skins. Before the start of each program, they displayed a "disclaimer", but this was not your average "disclaimer". These disclaimers were about how some of the program had been subtitled because the British accent can be hard to understand.

Althought superficially charming, the british accent is difficult to understand. Therefore, portions have been subtitled for your convenice.

Be warned. The following program contains british accents. Therefore, protions have been subtitled for the easily confused.

Not even British people can follow the british accent 100% of the time. Therefore, you - like me - will appreciate that portions of the following program have been subtitled for your convenience.

These so called "disclaimers" are really really funny and just another reason why I love the BBC.

Heh. I always feel bad when someone on TV has such a British accent that I have NO idea what's being said.

With all of the BBC America I watch, I am getting much better at understanding them, but sometimes I have to pull out my English to English dictionary. lol.

Best program on BBC America is Top Gear. Goto youtube and look up Top Gear. Its way too funny.

It's true! I just started my job and I have no idea what they're saying most of the time. Mainly it's when they talk to each other. But still, tons gets lost in the translation. HA HA!!
