"All calculations based on our experiences elsewhere fail in New Mexico." - Lew Wallace.

Written in a letter from the then territorial governor of New Mexico, Lew Wallace.
April 29, 1881. Wallace is probably better known elsewhere as the author of Ben-Hur.

That quote is funny because that still seems to be very true about New Mexico, even now some 127 years after he wrote it. New Mexico seems to be its own animal in regards to a lot of things. Something that would work and be very successful anywhere else is bound to fail here in New Mexico. I am not quite sure why that is, but I do have my theories about it.

Anyway, just a little musing for all of you.
