Google Street View for Albuqueruqe / Santa Fe, NM

Being the nerd / geek that I am, I check out the Google Lat Long Blog, which is basically is the official blog of Google Maps / Google Earth. So yesterday I was checking out the blog when I noticed that Google turned on their Street View feature for the Albuquerque / Rio Rancho / Santa Fe metro areas and I must admit that I almost wet myself when I read that.

For those of you who have no clue what street view is, Google Street View provides 360° panoramic street-level views of cities at ground level. For more info, you can read up on the subject in the entry on Wikipedia.

Now I would say they have about 95% of the Albuquerque / Rio Rancho metro area covered and maybe 60% of Santa Fe covered which is rather remarkable when you look at the physical size of the area they covered. I also must say that I am having fun exploring the areas around town. I even was able to look at my own house via Street View.

So now you can see a lot of what New Mexico has to offer and the beauty that goes along with it with out even leaving the comfort of your computer. When I find some time here soon (ya, free time, what the hell is that), I will compile some of the "must see places" that New Mexico has to offer and also that is covered by Street View.
