I probably would have never given had the events of today gone different. I spent a good part of the day out of the office doing some things to get ready for a new employee that just started here at CAC today. One of the things that needed to be done, was one of our trucks needed to be detailed so that my boss, Dennis, could drive it. He has been driving the car that our sales person would be using since our sales guy quit back in December.
So since I was not in my car, and could not use my iPod like I normally do, I turned on the radio and tuned it to my favorite station in town, 100.3, The Peak. Expecting to hear the normal mix of music and commercials, I was a little surprised to hear something else, the last day of their yearly Radiothon for UNM's Children’s Hospital.
So as I drove and sat in traffic today, I listed to all the stories on the Radiothon and I started to cry. See, for those of you who do not know, last year one of my coworkers’ daughter had a tumor in her brain and spent a lot of time at UNM's Children’s Hospital getting well. After 3 surgeries and many months, she is much better and is back to her old self.
I also owe my life to UNM's Children’s Hospital too. When I was a young sprout about 23 years ago I had many issues and spent lots of time at UNMH. I don’t remember any of it (hey, I was just a new thing back then), but I do know that with out UNM's Children’s Hospital, my life might be very different.
If you would like to donate to UNM's Children’s Hospital, you can do so on their website, and you too can become a Miracle Worker!
