"In the Valley of Elah" stars Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron, & Susan Sarandon and tells the story of a war veteran, his wife and the search for their son, a soldier who recently returned from Iraq but has mysteriously gone missing, and the police detective who helps in the investigation. "In the Valley of Elah" was inspired by true events.
I do not normally say stuff like this, cus I normally do not give a rat’s ass, but I really think it has a shot at winning some big awards, like Best Movie or something like that.
Right now this film is in limited release (and I do not know if they have plans to take it bigger), so you might have to drive to a larger city to see it, but I feel that it’s really worth it. I know here in the whole state of New Mexico it is only showing in two theaters (one in Albuquerque & one in Santa Fe), and most of the film was shot on location here in Albuquerque.
I must say that it was fun to watch this movie as it was mostly filmed here in Albuquerque. It was fun to see where they filmed stuff and what they tried to pass of as something else. Take for example our air force base, Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB). In the movie KAFB is named Fort Rudd. I really did have to laugh at that.
