Evan Almighty

Last night I got the chance to check out an advanced showing of Evan Almighty with some coworkers. I must say that it was much better (ok, a whole hell of a lot better) then I was expecting it to be. I just did not think it was going to be that good a movie, and had it not been for a free pass, I would probably never have seen it in the theater.

I am not a big Steve Carell fan and really did not know how well he would do as the lead roll. Also it is in all reality a sequel to the first movie Bruce Almighty. But with its all star cast (Morgan Freeman, Steve Carell, John Goodman, Wanda Sykes, Molly Shannon) I should have know it was going to be better then I first thought.

So after work, I went over to join the rest of my coworkers in line at Century Rio 24 (our mega multiplex theater). We waited inline until around 6:30pm when they let us into the theater to find our seats (or really fight for our seats). The movie at 90 min run time is not too short or too long. Its just right.

You can watch the Theatrical Trailer here.

24 screens? WOW. There are three theatres around here, and they all have 10 screens.

I'm glad the movie is good...I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to see it.

Yep, 24 screens. We have another big 14 screen theater downtown and another 9 screen on the westside that used to be 12 before the converted to stadium style seating.

I do not know why, but like 10 or so years ago they got on this big movie theator building kick for some reason. All 3 of our really big theaters were built with in 3 years or so of each other.
