Crappy New Mexico Road Planning....

Reading in the Albuquerque Journal today that the state is looking at widening the two-lane section of N.M. 30 between Española and Los Alamos. So the engineers start talking about different options they could do, and then it says this:

"Another option would be to make the third lane a passing lane for motorists in either direction."

Um, am I the only one that sees a major problem with this? They are going to make a lane for passing for motorists in either direction, um, does the term head on collision come into any of these engineers minds? It sure does not look like it. LOL. And just to be clear, they are not talking about Reversible lanes here. That was the first option they talked about in the story before this one.
