You have to be shtting me!

Ok, so I (and most of America really) know NCLB (No Child Left Behind Act) is full of crap, but I did not know how full of crap it was until I was reading an article on the Albuquerque Journal's website about a group, who’s funding is provided by the Army, that had a mandatory assembly for students at an local area high school. In the story I came across this:

Gatwood, Trigg and others aren't asking schools to keep recruiters away entirely. Under the No Child Left Behind Act, schools have no choice, unless they want to forgo their federal funding.

So basically if I am reading this right and if the Journal is reporting right, under NCLB, any school that accepts federal funding is being forced to allow recruiters on campus to harass students, and harass they do!

I remember being in high school and what might as well have been harassment from the “local Army / Navy / What have you” recruiters assigned to my school (Cibola High School for the record). Hell they would call the house looking for my sister (when she was in high school) and I. I think at one point my mom told them to fuck off (in nicer language) and then hung up on them. I so would have loved to tell them that I was gay! LOL.

Now do not get me wrong, I support our troupes (even if I do not support their commander) but I think that schools should be about learning, not recruiting for what ever. And now we have federal legistration that requires that these people be let on to the campus where our youth are there to learn, what a load of crap!

Microsoft Computer Santa Talks Dirty (anyone really shocked?)...

Yesterday I was looking around CNN Money (one of many news sites I check amongst all the others throughout my day) and I saw this headline "Microsoft unplugs bad Santa". The article in its own right makes for a very good read (well, ok, if you are a nerd / geek), but what really makes this story gold is 3 paragraphs about 2 paragraphs down from the top of the article, which I will save you the trouble of clicking on the link to read:

The holiday cheer soured this week when a reader of a United Kingdom-based technology news site, The Register, reported that a chat between Santa and his underage nieces about eating pizza prompted Santa to bring up oral sex.

One of the publication's writers replicated the chat Monday. After declining the writer's repeated invitations to eat pizza, a frustrated Santa burst out with, "You want me to eat what?!? It's fun to talk about oral sex, but I want to chat about something else."

The exchange ended with the writer and Santa calling each other "dirty bastard."

I mean really, is anyone truly shocked by any of this, well ok, other then the content of the chat? The Santa application was written by Microsoft, the same company that can not even get an their flag-ship operating system (OS) to work right after 5 years of development. What made anyone think they could make a large OS work right let alone a small talking Santa app? LOL.

I think I know which movie the programers were watching when they created this little Santa application, Bad Santa.
