Making an offer...

So as I stated in the last update, I am "taking the plunge", and buying a house. I think I have found the perfect house and am ready to make an offer on it. I go tomorrow to fill out all the paperwork that goes with making the offer and what not. This is a really big time in my life, and I must say that I am really excited & happy, even if it does scare the crap out of me. :)

Its a 2 bedroom, 2 bath manufactured HUD home of about 1000 sq. ft. in a really nice small subdivision on the north side of Albuquerque. It’s near Alameda / Paseo Del Norte & I-25, so I will have quick interstate access and it’s just a straight shot down I-25 to the office. It’s only about one mile more then my current drive to the office so that’s really nice. There is a lot of commercial in the area so, so that is a nice plus. Also we found out yesterday that the $85 homeowner’s association fee also covers my water, sewer, trash, and use of the pool and community building (which has an indoor basketball court and indoor racket ball court).

I should find out on Monday or Tuesday (if I have read everything right) if I got the house or not. So keep your fingers cross for me :) Also if I do end up getting the house, once I get all moved in and settled and stuff, I will have a major house warming party. So now I have to start thinking of the logistics of all of this (phone, power, internet, mail, and so on). Also I have to start thinking of the fact that I am going to move. That’s going to be fun....LOL. Well it will not be bad, and it’s only like 3 miles from my Apartment to the new place, so just lots of trips back and forth I guess.

Well I guess that is all for now. I will keep you all posted on if I get the home, and then where we go from there. Yep Yep.

Wow...
I know you've been looking at houses... but making an offer, wow! That's great! If you get it, maybe I'll stay with you the next time I'm in town after you move in... plus, then I might be able to use the indoor basketball court and the pool. =)

As the older sibling, I always kind of thought that I'd grow up first and buy a house. But it appears you have beat me to the punch. And now that I we are at this juncture, it makes sense to me why. I have no idea where I will be in the next two years (I only make guarentees for the next too... and both will be spent in Ohio), but you are obviously settling in Albuquerque.

I hope you get it!

Love you,
Kate

Re: Wow...
Ya its kind of been moving fast. I mean a little over a week ago it was just an idea that has been lurking in the back of my head for 3 or so years now. I must say that it all seems unreal to me right now. Just like a dream, and I'm going to wake up and its just going to be another day.

I will not lie, this scares the living shit out of me. I mean I know it’s a really really big change, and come on, I am Lutheran so Change must equal Bad. LOL.

I really think it’s what I need and what I want. But again its still feels so damn unreal. I also do not know when it will start feeling real. My guess will be when I move in. But yes you are welcome to come hang at my place when you are in the city.

Also trust me when I say that you will be in awe of the indoor basketball court. If my memory is right, it has hardwood floors, and the works. It’s really nice. What’s really funny is that the building does not look like it would have a basketball court inside. From the outside the building looks to be small and one story, but really there is a basement and that is where the two courts are, so they have really tall ceilings.

See unlike you, and it might be cus I am the baby brother, but I never really thought about who would buy there house first. But I feel its time for me to settle down (man I sound old), and get a place of my own. Plus as much as I love my apartment complex, I do not want someone living on top of me for the rest of my life.

Anyway, now that I have written a short story here, I will shut up.

Love you too,
Kevin (baby bro)

You're buying a home at 21? That's proof you don't live in California, haha.

Well yes, I'm buying a home at 21. Yes I do not live in California, but our housing market here in Albuquerque is showing no signs of slowing down. In the past 4 years, I have seen housing prices jump anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 dollars.

Also as all the other housing markets are starting to show signs of slowing down, ours just keeps heating up. That is why I am buying a house, is that I need to now, or I will be priced out of the market really quick. That and I am tried of wasting money on rent each month.

But I get the feeling that if nothing really changes, soon the Albuquerque area will be just like California.
