Kevin Smith - Me and My Shadow, The Jason Mewes Story...

EDIT 1: (Kevin Smith's site is getting pounded at the moment, so keep trying. Otherwise you can also find the story at his Myspace blog (

EDIT 2: (Kevin Smith's site is better now)

So I this is the post that I talked about a week ago Thursday (3/30/06) that I was waiting for the last part(s) to be posted.

So I will post a little background on all of this, and then below are the links to the full background details and each of the 9 parts. I am posting the links and not the full text for a few reasons, one being it's a very long story and for two, it’s not my place to repost the text of this story. Ok, now on with this:

Kevin Smith (IMDB), whom I think I have talked about in my blog before is a really cool guy. He is a writer and director, with the credit of such movies as Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, Clerks, and Mallrats going to his name. He also has a blog called "My Boring Ass Life" ( which I read. Also in almost every Kevin Smith movie he has two characters, a duo of sorts, "Jay and Silent Bob", with Silent Bob being played by himself, and Jay being played by Jason Mewes (IMDB).

At a recent gig at UPenn, Kevin gave a talk in which he told a 15 min story about how his friend, Jason Mewes, went from heroin addict to clean and sober, and all the pain and stuff that went with this. Well also in this full story there were some other things that the media got a hold of, and instead of telling the full story, the media only picked up on a few things, that when told out of context of the full story, really change the whole thing.

So Kevin Smith deiced, with Mewes permission, to just publish the whole story from start to finish. I have been reading this story and I have been sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for each installment of this story.

I must say that this is a story that is really frank in nature and is full of truth. I say that as there is a lot of strong content in the form of language, sexual content, and other harsh things. I really think this is a story that everyone should read even if you are not the type of person who normally likes strong language and stuff of that nature. It is the story of one mans strugle with drugs and the other person who cared enough to try and help him over and over again, when most people would have just given up.

Anyway below is the links, starting with the full background from Kevin Smith and then each of the 9 parts. Yes it is long, but again I think well worth the read. Anyway I hope you read it and enjoy the story as much as I did.
